TECHNICAL BAMBOO | 85% Bamboo rayon / 15% Spandex

This technical Bamboo is custom knit and dyed locally in Toronto, Canada exclusively for Free Label.  It is butter soft to the touch and has a substantial and thick (yet breathable) weight. Standard 100 OEKO-TEX® certified.

SUPIMA COTTON | 100% USA Grown Supima Cotton

This American grown, extra-long staple cotton is custom knit and dyed locally in Toronto, Canada exclusively for Free Label. This cotton is ultra durable and soft, making it the perfect material for your long lasting basics. Standard 100 OEKO-TEX® certified.

The durability and strength of a structured cotton twill, but with added coziness through the brushing process. Our brushed cotton twill is mid-heavy weight and oh so soft. With each wear the cotton relaxes and molds to your shape. But tightens back up between wears for an easy fit. This fabric is sourced in the USA from a family owned company that's been in business nearly half a century. They really know cotton.

CUSTOM LINEN | 100% Flax Linen

We work with an eco-certified mill in China to custom weave our Linen. We use a beautiful flax linen grown in France, then dyed and woven in China. Our linen is different because its slightly heavier than a typical summer linen, is more resistant to pilling, and is not pre-shrunk, meaning you can create your own custom fit. Wash cold and hang to dry to keep the fit, or use the dryer to shrink the fit slightly. Standard 100 OEKO-TEX® certified.

LYOCELL KNIT | 66% Lyocell, 28% Organic Cotton, 6% Spandex

This smooth knit fabric is as sustainable as it is substantial and soft. Lyocell is made in a closed loop system and is a biodegradable fabric. Plus its insanely comfortable. Standard 100 OEKO-TEX® and GOTS certified.

Less but better. That's our motto. Our garments are made by hand with care. This results in a high quality garment. That being said, knit garments require just as much love and care throughout their lifetime. This means always washing in cold water with like fabrics and hanging to dry.  We do not recommend using a dryer or heat on your Free Label garments.
Some fabrics like our Supima Cotton and Linen can be tumble dried, but we still recommend line drying when possible to be kind to the earth.

Great fit, not squat proof

I am 5'3 and waist is between 34 and 32 depending on the day. Hips are 41.5. I have longer legs and a short torso, they hit at my natural waist and a few inches above the knee. I purchased a medium.

First of all, the fit is excellent. The waist goes all the way up to my ribcage, so when paired with either the Dani or Becky bra there's actually overlap. I kinda wanted a small sliver of skin to show when wearing as a set, but no big deal. The waistband doesn't roll and is double layered so feels nice and secure, doesn't ride down. The leg hem does not dig into my skin like some bike shorts do and I find they hit at a good spot about an 1 or 2 above the knee. They are super comfy and nicely fitted.

There are two cons however, which is the reason for 3-4 stars. Because there is a middle seam I found sometimes there was a camel toe effect. The second is that they are not squat proof. However, I think both of these can be mitigated with underwear choice and personally I do not find this a deterrant to keeping the article.

Not for me!

I’m a bit perplexed by the size chart. I have a 46” hip and 35” waist, which is an L according to the chart. That seemed wrong to me, since I normally wear a 16, so I got an XL. I think I’d need to size up again for a proper fit, as the fabric has that overstretched sheen to it. I also found the fabric a bit thin for my liking. It’s a nice colour, though!

Wowwwww these shorts are SO COMFY!!! They're a perfect weight - heavier than Lulu's Align, but softer and more comfortable than Girlfriend Collective. I love the bamboo fabric, it's my favorite that FL offers. The inseam is a touch long for me, but I'm 5'3 with shorter legs so that's not a surprise. I love how comfortable the waist is and I can't wait to wear these all summer!

First fitting shorts in years!

The fabric is so soft and looks great with my honey Andie bra. I love the length as they go just above the knee on me and don't cut off the circulation on my thighs anywhere. Great high waist, form fitting shorts!

Measurements: 38 bust, 32 waist, 43 hips, 5'7" and I bought a M

I adore these shorts. I plan to wear them as my chub rub preventers in the summer under dresses, but I plan to rock them solo as well. They’re perfectly compressive and the fit is perfect for those of us with a large waist-hip ratio & thicker thighs. No pinching, no waist gap, they’re perfect. I’m a pretty standard 2X, but I like a more compressive fit in my FL bamboo, so I went with XL & they are just right. Already plotting my order for the restock!
