Celebrating Free Label's 10 Year Anniversary
Ten years ago, I designed my very first piece of clothing. I was working as a buyer at an athleisure boutique and found a gap in our athletic clothing I wanted to fill – a comfortable tank for curvier figures. I approached my boss about designing it for our store and he told me to go for it.
I researched a bunch of factories and only one got back to me. The owner was the sweetest – a man named Salmaan who taught us everything about clothing manufacturing when we knew nothing. No question was too dumb (and we had a lot of them!) That factory in Toronto, Canada was where Free Label first began. Salmaan and I still keep in touch and decided for our 10 Year Anniversary we would reunite and do a re-release of the tank that started it all.

I did not know the origin story and I can hardly beleive it’s been 10 years. Anyway, I continue to love this tank top and it’s still in great condition. Thanks for creating such durable and timeless clothing and thanks for sharing this story!!!
