When I say I urged Free Label FOR YEARS to put out a skort type item, I'm not kidding. So when these appeared, I was overjoyed! A skirt! Pants! Cropped! Hell yeahs all around! When they arrived, I tried them on and they were SOOOOO comfy! They looked great with a crop top, a professional top, and just anything. I was absolutely over the moon to have these in my wardrobe, even if they were a bit long.
But then, disaster struck! I got on my bike, thinking "these are going to be so cool to bike in. A skirt but also pants! I'm going to look so flippin' rad!" I did not look flippin' rad. I got halfway through the intersection around the block when they got caught in my back tire and stopped me in my tracks. The bus behind me swerved and honked. I started sobbing in the middle of the intersection, trying to drag my 60lb. E-bike to the curb on one good foot, while the other was tangled up in a bear trap of my own making. After about 10 minutes of struggling to free myself, a kind woman stopped and helped. We tried to free the fabric from the tire, but it was stuck fast. (This both prompted us to take a minute to agree that the fabric and construction was excellent quality!) Eventually, we decided we had to tear them or I had to walk home in my underwear. With every tear, she yelled "I'm so sorry!" but she eventually got me free. I made a sad walk home, shredded pants and shredded self confidence.
I think I can probably get them hemmed into a knee length skort (which is probably what I should have done in the first place), so not all is lost, but I'm still so sad.
All this to say, I really hope that future versions have a short person option. In the meantime, if you are a shorty, for safety, just don't bike in these. Maybe don't skateboard in them either. Just be careful around wheels of all kinds.
