About Free Label
Every Free Label garment is cut and sewn in Canada. While supporting the local economy is hugely important to us, the reason we choose to produce locally in Toronto and Vancouver is because this allows us to ensure our garments are made by happy hands.
Our factory partners are all within a 10 minute drive of our Vancouver office. We visit with them nearly every week to discuss new designs, check in on production, and sometimes just to drop by with coffee or treats!
When we go into production, we don't send our patterns overseas and cross our fingers that everything works out. We pass our patterns and fabric off by hand, visit our factories often, get to know the folks that make our garments, and verify that they work in clean safe environments.
We want you to feel like your best self when you slip on a Free Label garment - both inside and out. That's why we choose natural, sustainable and soft fabrics. It feels great wearing something soft, but it feels even better when that soft fabric is environmentally friendly.
Many of our fabrics are organic and custom milled locally in Toronto, Canada just for us. By creating our own custom fabric, we can ensure the soft hand feel, durability, and quality that make a fantastic garment. We prefer natural fiber fabrics, such as lyocell, Supima cotton, linen and bamboo.
The little details are important too. All of our labels and tags are made in Canada, and in 2020 we switched over all of our packaging materials to be 100% home compostable.
Hi! I'm Jess (the one on the left) and this is my husband Julian (the one on the right). You may see me pop in from time to time on Free Label Instagram stories. I started Free Label in 2015 with the goal to create clothing that not only make you look great on the outside, but feel great on the inside too.
When you shop Free Label, you are supporting an independent, family run business. It's true what they say - every time you buy from a small business, someone does a happy dance!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping me (and Jules) dancing. Your support allows Free Label to continue making clothing that feels comfortable, looks chic, and does good for our community and the environment.
